Child Trafficking: Gombe Police Command Returns 11 Unclaimed Children To Anambra {Photos}


The Gombe Police Command have returned eleven unclaimed children comprising of seven(7) boys and three(3) girls)who were victims of Child traffickers back to Anambra where they were originally found.

Recall that police operatives attached to Anambra State Police Command, had nabbed three female suspected child traffickers on 22nd of October,2019,at Nkpor market/Tarzan Junction in Idemili North LGA of the state alongside some victims of thier heinous act.

Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to working for a child trafficking syndicate led by one Hauwa Usman and her accomplice Nkechi Odinye who pays between to #200 to #400,000 depending on the age bracket and gender of the child.

Having evaded arrest for over three years through changing of locations,Mrs Nkechi Odinye,55, was subsequently apprehended by Police detectives attached to 3-3 Division in collaboration with operatives attached to the commands Special Anti-Cult Section(SACS) at her hideout in Obosi/Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The Anambra State Police Command recovered sixteen(16) children of various age bracket, comprising of ten(10)boys and six(6)girls suspected to have been kidnapped from different parts of the country at criminal hideout alongside the suspect.

After an exhaustive investigation and forensic analysis, including DNA tests, the suspects alongside some of the children were handed over to the Gombe State Police Command for further interrogation and identification of the children by thier biological parents. They were able to reunite one child with the parent in Anambra while Four children got United with thier parents in Gombe.

However, The Gombe State Police Command have now returned the remaining unclaimed eleven children to
back to the Anambra state command who have in turn handed them over to the State’s Ministry for Social Welfare, Women’s and Children’s Affairs for safekeeping until thier parents are known.

According to the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, the parents of the children can now come forward to claim thier wards with viable evidence to proof thier parenthood.

The State’s command also reported that they have a total of eighteen(18) unclaimed children rescued from suspected child traffickers across the state.
