Great news from the University of Ilorin Teaching hospital as a set of conjoined female twins were successfully separated by a team of medical experts on Thursday, January 14.   The babies were separated by a 66-member all Nigerian team of paediatric surgeons, paediatricians, paediatric cardiologist, anaesthetists, cardiothoracic surgeon, nurses, pharmacists, behavioral scientists and many more.     The team was led by Paediatric surgeon, Prof Lukman Abdul-Rahman who is pictured above carrying the babies.   See Photos Below: g

The world health organization (WHO ) has confirmed that a super gonorrhea is spreading fast due to the  COVID_19   pandemic. The agency says the disease is spreading due to actual antibiotic overuse for those infected with the novel coronavirus. The agency also states the sexually transmitted infection (STI) may become even more resistant to the recommended treatments like azithromycin, which typically is used for chest and sinus infections. Azithromycin has seen an increase in usage during the pandemic. The new strain does not respond to the normal first-line treatments, making it even more dangerous and uncomfortable for those infected, according to the report. Doctors and medical experts have long warned of the possibility that superbugs that are antibiotic-resistant could become more commonplace, and this is one example of such a thing happening. Rabiu Momodu Controversial cosmetics surgeon, Dr Anu Adepoju has been suspended from the medical profession in Nigeria following multiple claims of malpractice and botched surgeries at her clinic, Med Contour. A number of women who went to Med Contour for cosmetic surgery complained about having complications that they still suffer from. One particular patient was rushed to LUTH and eventually died after being operated upon by Dr Anu. Earlier this year, LUTH petitioned the medical panel following the death of the victim of Dr Anu’s procedure who died after being transferred to its hospital.
