BREAKING: NECO releases 2020 SSCE results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the internal Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) results with a two per cent increase of candidates who made five credits and above in all subjects. The Registrar, Professor Godswill Obioma, announced these at the NECO Headquarters in Minna. “To check, visit  result.neco.gov.ng  and input your details”.

Ede Polytechnic’s Rector Suspended For Fixing a King-Sized Bed in His Office

John Adekolawole, the rector of the Federal Polytechnic in Ede, Osun state has been suspended by the institution's academic board on grounds of "sleeping at work."   Adekunle Masopa, chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) in the institution, said the board based its decision on 21 grounds.   Speaking after an emergency congress of the union, Masopa said a position paper was submitted to the union by the board after its meeting. Post-UTME: The Collapse of UNIBEN Server As Cause Anxiety for Admission Seekers

Prospect of the over 3,500 candidates who wrote the Post UTME examination to secure admission into the University of Benin (UNIBEN), might as well be dashed, following the collapse of the servers of the University.  The examination was conducted on Tuesday, December 8, but the University announced the collapse of the servers in a terse SMS, sent out Wednesday afternoon.  The message directed the affected candidates, who came from all parts of the country to write the examination, to return to the University for another test.  “If you know anyone that wrote Post-UTME exam today 8th December 2020 @ict hall Ugbowo, tell the person to come back from any state or city he or she is. Edo Teachers Issue 7-day Ultimatum Over Demotion of Headteacher

Teachers in Esan North-East Local Government Area have issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Acting Education Secretary, local government education authority, Oseghale Mary to reverse the deployment and subsequent demotion of one Ikiakhele Agatha, the head teacher of Efandion primary school in the locality. The teacher said they will not fail to embark on strike if the Acting Education Secretary failed to reverse the deployment and demotion of the head teacher. This was contained in a petition signed by Oriere Duba, NUT chairman of the local government, secretary, Eyonse Martins, and two others and addressed to the state executive of the union and the state chairman of Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Benin City. According to the petition, “if this decision is not reversed in the next seven days, we shall have no choice than to shut down education activities in the local government area.”

BREAKING: ASUU finally agrees to call off strike after 8 months

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have agreed to call off their 8-month-old strike after the Federal Government agreed to give the union to N70bn, Rabsreporters  is reporting. The decision followed a meeting between ASUU and the government team led by Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Abuja, on Friday. The ASUU had on March 26, 2020, embarked on a nationwide strike to demand “revitalisation allowance”, earned academic allowances, renegotiation of the 2009 agreement, visitation panels, among other demands including the payment of lecturers using the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) which the Union kicked against. Just last week, ASUU told students and their parents not to expect the suspension of its ongoing strike soon.   Emeka Onwudiwe The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Akure Zone, yesterday declared that children/wards of public office holders should be banned from studying in tertiary institutions abroad. The Akure branch of ASUU made the call in a statement signed by it Zonal Coordinator, Prof. Olu Olu Olufayo, and the FUTA ASUU branch Chairman, Dr. Olayinka Awopetu, saying such policy would reduce the decadence in the country’s education sector.

The NYSC candidates always visit the orientation Camp ground for three weeks before they are being dispatch to their various Places of Primary Assignment (PPA). In Abuja Camp NYSC Orientation Camp, Abu has been widely identified celebrated for  his small stature and height.   Abu is one person who is generally recognised by everyone as the shortest in the Camp. His courage, strength and commitment to excellence is overwhelming. Despite his small stature, he continued his education relentlessly. He decided not to stop despite he was despised and mocked by colleagues while in school. Abu is a graduate of library and information technology from the Federal University of Technology Minna.

ASUU slams Ngige, Tells Students, Parents No Hope Of Suspension of Strike Soon

  The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Tuesday November 17, told students and their parents not to expect the suspension of its ongoing   strike   soon. Rabsreporters, is reporting that the union’s Abuja Zonal Coordinator, Prof. Theophilus Lagi made the announcement during a press briefing in Abuja and also told lecturers to seek alternative means of survival. Lagi who accused the federal government of not showing commitment in resolving the issues that necessitated the ongoing industrial action, further stated that they will continue with the strike until the government bows to the union’s demands. The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU has advised its members to start seeking alternative means of survival. ASUU said this on its official Twitter page as the education body expressed hope of an agreement with the federal government. The Union expressed optimism that students would return to universities next week after its meeting with the federal government. The tweet read: “ All Federal University students should prepare for resumption as we expect a positive outcome from ASUU on Wednesday.” This is coming after the Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, on Friday, expressed the hope that the agreement with the Union will be concluded next week. The body highlighted seven ways in which Nigerian students who have bee at home can efficiently make use of their time. ASUU in an advisory statement it released via Twitter, told students to seize the opportunity presented by the indefinite strike to get a skill and add value to their lives.
