Thousands of people in   Indonesia   have been evacuated as monitoring sensors have continued to pick increasing volcanic activities. According to the National Disaster Mitigation Agency, hot ash tumbled as far as 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) down the slopes of Mount Semeru early Tuesday. This development triggered panic among villagers, as falling ash and sulfur blanketed several villages around its slopes. The highest volcano on Indonesia’s most dense Java island is the 3,676-meter (12,060-feet) mountain in Lumajang district. While speaking with newsmen, spokesman of the Disaster Mitigation Agency, Raditya JatiJati, said authorities are still trying to evacuate about 550 people living on the mountain’s slopes, adding that there were no reports of injuries or serious damage. The Police  in Uttar Pradesh Balrampur India, on Monday, 30 November, arrested three persons in connection with the murder of a local journalist and his friend. Those arrested have been identified as Akram Ali alias Abdul Qadir, Lalit Mishra and Keshvanand Mishra alias Rinku. Rakesh Singh, 45, who was working for a local newspaper, and his friend Mithlesh Sahu, 36, suffered serious burns in a fire at his house in Kalwari village, Balrampur. While Sahu died on the spot, Singh suffered 90 per cent burns and was referred to a Lucknow hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The Balrampur police had constituted four teams to solve the murder mystery.   Eight people died while 20 others injured as roof collapsed at a wedding ceremony on Wednesday in Pakistan’s northwest Kurram Tribal District, local media reported. According to the reports, the roof collapsed at the wedding ceremony in Pewar area of Parachinar Region of Kurram, a tribal district in the country’s northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The deceased include six women and two children. Local people and rescuers pulled out the bodies and the injured from the rubbles and took them to the District Headquarter Hospital of Parachinar. A hospital official told the media that several people suffered serious injuries and they were under treatment. The official added that the majority of the wounded people were women and children who were inside two different rooms when the roof collapsed.

  A 24-year-old woman identified as Phung Thi Thang has been arrested by police after she robbed a Techcombank branch in Tan Phu District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
